CTO as
a Service

Senior technical judgement, available by the day. For companies that need the decisions a CTO makes long before they can hire one.

You probably need this if…

Your engineering team has no one senior enough to say no to you.

You are choosing between agencies, contractors and a first hire, and cannot compare them.

Delivery keeps slipping and nobody can tell you honestly why.

An investor or acquirer is about to look closely at your technology.

Your CTO left, and the roadmap left with them.

What the role covers

Architecture and build-versus-buy decisions
Roadmap, estimation and delivery cadence
Hiring: role design, interviewing, calibration
Security and compliance posture at board level
Vendor selection and contract review
Technical due diligence, both directions
Coaching your engineers into the next level
// Cadence

Pick the Level
Of Presence You Need.

Every engagement is scoped and priced per company — these are the shapes it usually takes.

Advisory
Two days a month

A standing review of decisions, architecture and risk. You keep the wheel; we make sure you can see the road.

Best for funded early stage
Fractional
One to two days a week

In your standups, your board deck and your hiring loop. Owns the technical plan and is accountable for it.

Best for scaling teams
Interim
Full time, fixed term

Cover a gap, run a turnaround, or hold the seat while you recruit — including running that search and handing over.

Best for transitions
// Common questions

The CTO role, answered.

What does a CTO-as-a-Service engagement cost?

Every engagement is scoped and priced per company, around three levels of presence. Advisory is roughly two days a month, fractional is one to two days a week, and interim is full time on a fixed term. You are buying senior technical judgement by the day rather than a permanent salary.

How is this different from a contractor or a dev agency?

A contractor delivers what you specify; we own the technical plan and are accountable for it — in your standups, your board deck and your hiring loop. Often the first thing we do is help you compare agencies, contractors and a first hire, because that is a decision most founders cannot make alone.

What does the role actually cover?

Architecture and build-versus-buy calls, roadmap and delivery cadence, hiring from role design through interviewing, security and compliance posture at board level, vendor selection, and technical due diligence in both directions. It also includes coaching your existing engineers into the next level rather than replacing them.

An investor or acquirer is about to look at our technology — can you help?

Yes. We run technical due diligence from either side of the table and get your security and compliance posture into a state that survives scrutiny. If someone is about to look closely at your stack, we make sure the story they find is the one you want them to.

Our CTO just left and the roadmap left with them. What now?

That is exactly what the interim engagement is for. We step in full time on a fixed term to hold the seat, rebuild the plan, keep delivery moving, and run the search for your permanent hire — then hand over cleanly once they arrive.
